The Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery in Sri Lanka is one of the oldest turtle conservation centers in the country. Established in 1979, it has been dedicated to protecting endangered sea turtles, with support from the state conservation agency, Greenpeace, and marine scientists. The center cares for sick and injured turtles while also nurturing baby turtles during their early days before releasing them into the ocean. Visitors contribute to the hatchery’s preservation through their entrance fees and even have the unique opportunity to gently hold the baby turtles.
